Use WiFi and USB connectivity on this New York bus

Earlier this year, New York City’s Governor Andrew Cuomo stated that there will be a fleet of high-tech buses for the public. We all thought that it would take a few years to see this in a city like New York – but we were wrong.

Not only does the Big Apple have subway stations consisting of WiFi connectivity, they’re now preparing to introduce the first 70 WiFi-equipped buses in Queens by the end of either the second or third quarter this year. These new buses will not only boast WiFi, it will also have up to 55 USB charging ports, three LCD screens in order to convey announcements and transfers, etc.

Once the buses are debuted in Queens, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority wants 70 of the buses to begin serving the Brooklyn area, 209 of them in the Bronx, and 18 of them in Manhattan by 2018. Additionally, they are planning to introduce 2,042 more buses in order to substitute 40% of its current bus fleet. Thanks to this, the citizens of New York will not have to battle to get onto the bus and use WiFi or charge their smartphones and tablets.
