Apple responds to at least one of two iPhone 6 Plus explosions in one week
This week, three Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices overheated and burnt in the US, and all of them were replacement devices for the ones that were already recalled last month.
Allegedly, the iPhone 6 Plus hasn't a good week either.
Two iPhone 6 Plus devices have burned. One of them while charging in Fresno, California, and the other one in a student's pocket at Rowan College at Burlington County in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.
Darin Hlavaty was the student from the second case and was at the center of attention in his physical science class on October 1. Before burning a hole in his pocket, there was a fizzing sound, then a pop, and finally smoke started coming out of his pocket. Hlavaty wasn't majorly injured, as he moved his phone away from him. The fire was put out and as a result, the class was moved to another room.
Hlavaty said, " The only thing that was wrong with it was a simple crack, but I don't see a simple crack causing it to blow up in my pocket."
Apple still hasn't commented on the case but is apparently in a promised investigation.
The tech giant also had to deal with Yvette Estrada on Thursday. In the early morning, she woke up to a sizzle and pop before her charging iPhone burst into flames. The phone was put into a sink by her husband and told her to call the fire department. The fire caused a damaged dresser, pair of glasses and to Apple Watch stands.
A new Apple Watch stand, charger, and a replacement iPhone 6 Plus was offered to Estrada by Apple. The company also offered to upgrade her to an iPhone 7, but she would have to pay for it.
Darin Hlavaty has had his iPhone 6 Plus for only six months, and Estrada has had hers for three months.
We're still not sure of Apple has communicated with those customers to try and discourage them from going public with these incidents. We know that Samsung did.
