Apple Pay rumoured to launch on 14 July in UK
Apple’s new contactless payment system ‘Apple Pay’ will be launched in the UK very soon. 14th July to be exact. Just about more than a week from today.
The system will work with the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, and the Apple Watch, and may even work with a (possible) new upcoming iPhone device.
An unidentified British retailer suffered from a leaked internal document, and a report from Mark Gurman, a writer from 9To5Mac indicates the date of 14th July.
Apple Pay will be available for usage at over 250,000 payment terminals across the UK. An example is the London transport system where contactless payment is already in use. Also, there are already many tap-to-pay systems available in stores. Banks such as HSBC, Natwest, and Santander are supporting Apple Pay.
The Apple Pay system intends to transmit data via NFC to payment terminals and will authenticate and confirm purchases using Touch ID. The UK will be the first international market for Apple’s latest product.
