Your Mac could be automatically downloading macOS Sierra right now

US tech giant Apple is now rolling out an automatic download of the macOS Sierra. This is essentially an attempt for the company to inject it's latest operating system into compatible Macs. However, this will only happen on Macs that have the automatic downloads function on, as well as the required amount of storage space. If you haven't received your's just yet, don't worry because the Sierra update could meet your Mac "over the next week." Apple is reportedly "randomly" selecting when your Mac device receives the operating system update.

Considering that this is a major OS launch by Apple, the update may note necessarily install automatically. This means that you'll still need to begin the update on your own time. These are basically precautions so that Apple doesn't surprise you with a potentially inconvenient experience with a large download.

Looking back at Microsoft's release of Windows 10, there seems to be a strong similarity in Apple's current move. Apple wants the update process a "more seamless and convenient" one for users. A few examples of Apple's latest MacOS Sierra are elements such as Siri on desktop, Optimised Storage, including other useful tricks like a user being able to unlock their Mac device while wearing an Apple Watch in the close range.
