'Google Cast' app to be renamed to 'Google Home'

Google recently took the stage in San Francisco to announce a slew of new products ranging from new phones to new WiFi routers, a new 4K-enabled Google Chromecast, and the option to preorder their Alexa competitor called Home. Because of the new products announced, Google is once again changing the focus of their Chromecast app, called Google Cast.

The app actually changed names not so long ago, as Google changed it from ‘Chromecast’ to ‘Google Cast’ back in march. And it’s once again going under a name change, this time as ‘Google Home’

The name change makes sense because Google is trying to put all of their devices such as the older Chromecast devices, as well as the newer ones under their new Home ecosystem.

To ease up on some possible confusion, the Google Cast name is not going away. Products will still reference the ‘Google Cast’ technology, which allows users to stream content from a host device to something like a Chromecast. This can be seen in multiple Bluetooth and/or speakers, TV’s, and other devices.
