There's now a 3D Hologram Tabletop display
Ever since I’ve watched James Cameron’s Avatar, I’ve been waiting for holograms to become a reality. And now they are (somewhat), starting to become a real thing.
There is a crowdfunding project called Holus, which is a table top display that turns 2D content into 3D content from PCs and phones that you can see in any direction. The only thing you have to do is plug your device in and that’s it! You can play virtual games, such as educational games or board games. There is tracking built-in that makes the content follow you as you walk around.
The concept is amazing, but it will cost you. The project is on Kickstarter and you will have to back $550 to get one, and could cost you later on as much as $950. The first units should arrive sometime in March of next year, but from the looks of it, it will be worth both the wait and the price. Now hopefully, I can relive some of the moments from Avatar in my living room.
