Google announces the OnHub router Go

Routers are never thought about much, they are just there. Google hopes to change that, as they have announced the OnHub, which is an easy to set up and manage router with high performance and can even be used to connect smart home accessories. Google markets the OnHub as an easy to set-up and troubleshoot. The router connects to iOS and Android devices through a material designed app, that tells users how many devices are on the network and the connection speeds they're receiving. Google claims that the routers circular design will allow for better reception all around the house. OnHub will also determine which channel to use, and supports the 802.11 AC standard and a 5GHz spectrum. The OnHub router was made in a partnership with TP-Link, and according to Wired, a second router is also in development, made by Asus. Google also promises to bring new features to the router over time, and will handle the updates automatically, unlike most routers which are a pain to download firmware updates. OnHub also supports Bluetooth 4.0 LE and weave, which is Google's Smart Home language, which could pave the way for OnHub to be a smart home hub in the future. If you are interested in trying the OnHub out, it is available August 31st for $199.99
