Alcatel OneTouch at IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany announced a massive tablet called the Xess, and it has a 17-inch screen. The tablet is pronounced excess, and is highly portable thanks to the adjustable kickstand on the back, as well as a handle for easy carrying. It can be folded to almost any angle, even flat. The handle on the back can be pushed away behind the tablet's bezel when not used. There is also a pair of 3-watt speakers, a hidden stylus, and the charging port are all located on the back. Oddly enough, the charging port connects and looks like Apple's MagSafe connector, and has a similar name, MagTouchPort.

The Xess's massive 17-inch display is at a resolution of 1080p, and has 127 pixels per inch. The tablet has a MediaTek MT87837 processor with 2GB of RAM. And it runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with a few software tweaks. The first, there is a family mode dashboard that showcases the weather, time, notes, some multimedia, webcam feeds, and even Alcatel's fitness tracker data. There is also a kitchen mode, which gives the user suggestions for recipes to make. The tablet can also be used with gestures, helpful in the kitchen.

It will be available sometime later this year, and will sell a version with a blue light film over the display, as there is some noticeable blue-light issues that is electronically and environmentally created. There is no word on price, but it is expected to be around the $800 USD price point. The Xess is still a prototype, for now, so there is no word when this year it'll come out.
