My personal experience of wireless charging

Wireless charging may look amazing and futuristic, but is it really that good? Wireless charging came out a few years back, promising to change the way you charged your smartphone. People saw it as a quick and easy way to recharge your mobile on the go. So does it really live up to its name?

I began trailing with wirelessly charging my phone when I purchased the Nexus 5. I charged the smartphone normally for the first few months but then ventured to buy a wireless charger off eBay. They were relatively cheap and came in many shapes and sizes. My first notice was that it took much longer to charge when compared to your typical charger. This greatly disappointed me. Charging times varied from 3-4 hours on wireless while normal charge times were between 1 and a half hours to 2. What is the point of a quick easy charge if it takes double the time to actually charge your phone?

I also found it to be quite unreliable. I would leave my Nexus 5 charging overnight only to find that it does not charge at all. This may be due to the wireless charger itself but I was again rather disappointed.
Wireless charging does look amazing however is it really that useful? Drop your opinions below and socialise with us on our social pages!
