Nexus 5X Worth The Upgrade From The Nexus 5?

The Nexus 5 was arguably the most popular Nexus device - mainly due to the high performance and the low price point. Google have partnered with LG again, for the third time, to produce the new Nexus 5X. So is it worth the upgrade?

Starting with the technical specifications, the Nexus 5X brings a host of new components over the aging predecessor. It packs a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 compared to the quad-core Snapdragon 800 in the original Nexus 5, a bumped up camera and a larger battery. The Ram remains the same at 2GB. The camera department has always been the "Achilles Heel" for the Nexus line, however with a 12mp shooter, Laser AF, 4k and F/2.0 Google have high hopes for their smartphone camera.

The Nexus 5X is better than the Nexus 5 in every single way. However, the Nexus 5 still offers a solid android experience and snappy performance. The Nexus 5 is still a great smartphone that is more than adequate for day to day use. Furthermore, it is scheduled to receive the Marshmallow update meaning you will still be running the latest software.

So, is it worth the upgrade? Well, it really depends on you. The Nexus 5X has great specs and an awesome camera which the Nexus 5 simply cannot compete with. The 5X will set you back for £299 pounds providing you a faster CPU, better camera, larger battery, bigger screen and a fingerprint reader. Personally I would upgrade but it really depends on you!
