The Roku 4 box can now stream 4K content
4K content is finally making it to the mainstream, and Roku is aiding that effort with the new Roku 4 multimedia streaming box that can stream and support 4K content. The best part could be the price, as it will only cost $129.99 and will arrive sometime later this month.
The Roku 4 is much larger than it's predecessors as the chunky square of yesteryear's models has now been flattened down into a square that is wider in both length and width. And according to TechnoBuffalo, offers a lot of compelling features such as 4K streaming at 60 frames per second that worked flawlessly. To make sure that the consumer is aware of what content is available in 4K, there will be special 4K tags titles that offer the high-resolution content.
Roku's custom user-interface, Roku 7 has gotten an upgrade with features such as follow and find specific actors, directors, movies, tv shows and more. Another useful feature coming is a mobile app that lets users control certain parts of their Roku. However, it only works when the user is connected to the same WiFi network as the Roku is, but will be expanded to further areas soon. There is also a new useful Dorm and Hotel Connect feature, which allows the user to easily connect to WiFi networks that requires a user login via a web page to connect, which can be done via the Roku mobile app. Voice control has also been updated, which allows users to search into most third-party applications and search cross-platform for certain TV shows and movies, without delay. If a certain title is free, Roku will put that selection at the tip of the query list.
