Google announces YouTube Red

Today, Google announced that it will now have a subscription service called YouTube Red. It’s been rumored for a while now that Google will launch a subscription-based service and it has finally been confirmed. It will be available from October 28.

This new service Google has announced called YouTube Red, will be $9.99 per month for completely ad-free videos. It will let users play videos or songs in the background and watch offline videos by saving it to their phones or tablets. The monthly fee of $9.99 will let users get these features and a free subscription to Google Play Music and vice versa.

YouTube Red will be officially available in exactly one week but will have a one-month free trial. As the service gets more popular, Google will let users have member-only access to original movies and shows from popular content creators.

YouTube Red however, isn’t all that great for YouTube partners. Google has forced them into sharing their revenue from the subscription with YouTube. If they don’t agree, YouTube will remove all of their videos from their channel and won’t them become public even if they’re not ad-supported.

What do you think about YouTube Red? Do you think Google made a good decision?
