24 hours with Arrow Launcher

Arrow Launcher developed by Microsoft is a customizable, fast and unique experience you can download for your Android device. I have been using it for 24 hours and here are my impressions.

The UI used by Arrow Launcher is very pleasing to the eye. It's minimalistic and elegant with a clean and polished overall look. When you first boot into the Launcher you will be taken to your homepage which essentially is just your frequently used apps. They will appear according to how many times you launch the application and can change throughout your use, adapting to your needs. The idea is clever and so far has been very accurate.

Other than that, by default, you have a home screen labelled "People" and another one called "Notes & Reminders" each with an interactive widget for easy access. One feature of using the Arrow Launcher is the expandable dock. Triggered by pulling up on the dock, you can access a whole range of favourite apps easily, along with toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Flashlight and Auto-rotate. You will also find the launcher settings here.

By default, there is no Icon Pack applied, however, you can apply the included one. The app drawer is in a vertical format, which is very similar to that of Cyanogens Mod's. There is a search bar at the top so locating apps can be much easier. The Launcher performs very well on my Nexus 5 with little to no lag. One downside, however, is that animations can be a bit slow. This is noticeable when you click on an app icon - it takes a few moments for the app animation to launch.

I think customization is rather poor. There isn't much you can alter apart from Icon packs and the background wallpaper which was rather disappointing. Microsoft should have added other enhancements so you can customize to launcher accordingly like Nova Launcher, which is also available on the Play Store.

Overall, the Launcher is a solid download. Visually the Arrow Launcher looks pleasing and has lots of potential. However, there is room for improvement and hopefully Microsoft will keep making the launcher better.
