Microsoft's Windows 7 has less than one year to live

With Microsoft's Windows 10 just recently hitting store shelves and new PC's plus Upgrades from Windows 8.1, it is only a matter of time before Microsoft's old operating systems hit the grave. And it's close for Windows 7 to hit that mark as Microsoft has updated the "Windows lifecycle fact sheet" that would extend pre-installed versions of Windows 7 Professional until October 31st, 2016.

Microsoft ended direct sales of Windows 7 on October 31st, 2013. However, since the widespread dislike of Windows 8 and 8.1, many PC users continued to buy Windows 7 PC's rather than Windows 8. Because of that, Microsoft was forced to extend support than originally expected. The extended support is only for Windows 7 Professional, as the support for Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium and Ultimate ended last October. Windows 7 Professional will be pulled out of the market the same day that Windows 8.1, as well. But wait, there's more! Windows 8 is being pulled on June 30th, 2016. Windows 7 Professional PC's will still be supported with software updates and technical assistance until January 2020.
