Amazon increases security of accounts

Security on the internet is vital, especially for services that use your credit/debit card details and store them online. In an attempt to boost their security, Amazon has just launched two-factor-authentication for your account, if you choose to use it.

The feature has been tested in a private beta stage for a few weeks now, but it was finally released to the public in the last few days, and you can enable it pretty simply.

Head to the 'Advanced Security Settings' tab on amazon, and from there, it's as easy as 1, 2, 3. Just give amazon your phone number, and they will send you a text message with a code in it. Suddenly, even if your password is somehow accessed by a third party, they won't be able to access your account, as they don't have your other authentication method.

It's great to see another large company add this protection to their customers' accounts, but there's still a long way to go - services such as PlayStationNetwork, WhatsApp and Mega still don't have this extra level of security.
