Pepsi phone officially unveiled on crowdfunding website
What companies do you think are most likely to make a phone? Is it a company famous for its fizzy drink and rivalry with Coca-Cola? I didn't think so, but it seems it has happened, Pepsi has made a phone.
Well, Shenzen Scooby Communication Equipment Co. has made a phone while Pepsi is licensing its brand.
The Pepsi Phone P1s has a 5.5 inch, 1080p, 2.5D curved glass display, a 1.7GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory and it runs on dido OS 6.1 based on Android Lollipop (5.1).
It has a beautiful aluminium unibody design and a fingerprint scanner on the back below the 13MP camera. It also has a 5MP front camera, a 3000mAh battery and a Hybrid Dual SIM where the second nano SIM slot can be used as a microSD slot.
It is available through a crowdfunding campaign on jd.com in China, in Blue, Gold and Silver with prices ranging from the sold out early bird offer of 499 yuan (around £50) all the way up to 1299 yuan (around £130) till the funding ends.
This phone seems promising, but if it is successful, we might see a rise in companies slapping their brand on phones and other technology unrelated to the company. Right now we'll just have to wait for Coca-Cola to brand a phone to rival Pepsi.
