Huawei Mate 8 is official

Following the success of the Nexus 6P, Huawei has officially unveiled their flagship smartphone the Huawei Mate 8.

The Huawei Mate 8 is packing top of the end specifications, rocking the latest Kirin 950 CPU. The CPU has 8 cores in total and the performance the CPU is capable of is commendable. For comparison, the latest chipset is able to outperform the Exynos 7420 and Snapdragon 820, according to Geekbench scores.

The display measures in at 6" with a 1080p panel at the show. The design of the Mate 8 consists of an aerospace-grade aluminium alloy and the glass used on the display is 2.5D curved diamond cut glass.

At the back of the device is a Sony 16MP sensor with a fingerprint scanner directly below it. While at the front there is an 8MP front camera for selfie lovers. Beneath the metal chassis is a pleasing 4,000mAh battery which promises great battery life.

The Huawei Mate 8 will run Android 6.0 out of the box with the company's next-generation EMUI 4.0 OS skin on top. The handset will be available in a variety of colours including Gold, Silver, Grey and Brown.

The flagship will ship with 3GB/32Gb, 4GB/64Gb and 4GB/128GB variants each costing around $480,$590 and $700 respectively.
