Samsung has patented some really interesting device ideas just within the past year, and that continues with their most recent batch of patents which include a folding Smartphone and even a tablet that can be rolled up. It goes without saying that if you want to know more information about these patented devices, please hit the source link down below.
The patents for the two devices were originally filled in Korea last year, but they were recently filled in the United States in May. The patent above describes the rolling tablet, which would expand or unfurl from the base. And according to Patently Mobile, "Samsung notes that the flexible display may include an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) or a flexible LCD that replaces a glass substrate with a plastic film." Additional diagrams show the tablet fully extended from the base and there are two items on each side of the screen; one side shows widgets like weather and others, and on the right side, there is a phone dialer. Another diagram shows the device the flexible display folded in half, making it look like a book or Lenovo's Yoga Tab series which includes the barrel-style base design. There is no word on how exactly how or where the internal components would be, but this is an interesting concept nonetheless that could hopefully become a reality someday.

The Patently Mobile article also cites possible design cues to Samsung's project valley, which could be a foldable tablet or smartphone. There is also another patent for an additional folding smartphone or tablet that folds over itself.

Again, if you want to more information about these patents, please hit the source link down below. If these patented devices do eventually become a reality, it could permanently change how we use technology on a daily basis. Please keep in mind though that these are again patents, and they might or might not make it past the prototype stage. Only time will tell if these devices will soon be on the market shelves.
