For those who are still grandfathered into AT&T's unlimited data plan, you will soon see a spike in cost as they are going to increase the plan to $35USD in February, a $5 increase. 9to5Mac first uncovered the price increase, and AT&T later confirmed that it will happen to The Verge. The $5 increase is the first in seven years as the plan was discontinued in 2010, and no longer an option to new AT&T costumers. The $35 does not include voice and texting plans, however.
AT&T is still committed to their costumers who still have the unlimited data plan, which is a surprising move. Earlier this year, they raised throttle cut off to 22GB, which was much lower than previously. AT&T is not the only one who is going to raise their unlimited data plans as Verizon raised their plan an additional $20 per line. It is nice to see that AT&T still somewhat cares for their costumers who still have that unlimited data plan, even if it means that raising the plan by $5, which really isn't that much.
