1ByOne Bluetooth Keyboard with Multi Touchpad: review
This is 1byOne's Multi-Function Keyboard with Touchpad. In a nutshell, it's a compact keyboard that allows computer, tablet, smartphone and other device users to complete basic tasks utilising Bluetooth connectivity. But is it really worth your money?
Considering the fact that many young entrepreneurs and students like me are always busy with work, and this keyboard plays an effective part as it enables you to write on the go and enhances your typing experience on small devices - such as smartphones and tablets.
The keyboard arrives with a user-manual and a mini USB charging cable.
The design of the keyboard isn't the best in the world, but it is pretty good for its price tag. Its very slim and sleek, which to me is absolutely perfect. The keys are exactly what you'd expect on that of a regular laptop, and it also hosts an integrated touchpad - which is alright, but could do with some improvement on its texture and responsiveness. The touchpad is capable of the latest Windows gestures - single-finger slide, two-finger slide, swipe up and down, etc. - empowering your abilities and experience when writing or using various software.
A smart feature that this keyboard consists of is the 'For Android' and 'For Win' keys on the top-right of the board. Keeping in mind that the keyboard only supports Android and Windows systems; these keys differentiate between which operating system functionalities are compatible with your device. When i was using the keyboard with my Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone, i obviously pressed the 'For Android' button which then made it more convenient for me to use the keyboard with features such as volume increase and volume decrease, copy and paste, scrolling web pages up and down, etc. There's also a button to disable the touchpad - placed at the bottom-right of the keyboard - which comes in handy when you choose not to use the touchpad. The keyboard has pretty much all the keys and features that you would have on a normal PC or laptop keyboard - and this is what makes it special for a smartphone or tablet.
One of the easiest things that i had to do with this keyboard was to get it connected with my smartphone via Bluetooth - its all based in the user manual and is so easy that my grandparents could do it. Although the keyboard isn't very strong and it easily bends, it provides a comfortable experience when using it on your lap; this means that it didn't shake or flop around when typing. The keyboard itself won my love, but the touchpad? Well, i'm not too keen on it.
With an operating range of up to 10 metres between the keyboard and paired device, and an uninterrupted work time of 90 hours, typing this review on my smartphone was easy as 1-2-3. Its one of the first smartphone/tablet compatible keyboards that i've ever used in my life, and i can tell you that it'll probably be one of the best that i've ever used.
The overall functionality and usability was great - but due to its small size i felt quite cramped when using it. However, its small size and light weight allowed me to stick it into my normal backpack nicely.
In retrospect, this 1byOne keyboard is one of the best options for the average consumer that is hunting for a Bluetooth compatible keyboard. With a rapid and convenient keypad and mini touchpad, this keyboard provides the essential support that you'll need when utilising a smartphone, tablet, or Windows PC. With an ultra-slim design, it can be easily moved around your house or office, stored in your backpack, sidebag, or laptop case.
It has definitely given me a positive experience and it belongs in my list of handy gadgets. Priced at $16.99 (at the time of this review), the 1byOne multi-function keyboard with touchpad is a decent investment in a portable keyboard. If you're after something to combine with your smartphone or tablet for some on-the-go use without paying a premium then this is going to cover everything you need - I highly recommend this accessory.
