Battle of the smartwatches

StartFragment2015-2016 has been, without a doubt, the year of the Smartwatches. It has seen many new releases - such as the Fitbit Blaze, the Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Gear, and the Moto 360 2. There is undoubtedly a bit of competition between these companies; especially Apple and Samsung, being leading mobile phone manufacturers.

In this article I am going to compare Android Wear with the Apple Watch, to try and find out which is really the best in its niche.

Let's start with display. The Apple Watch comes in 2 different sizes, 38mm and 42mm. Both come with Retina display and the 38mm watch packs in 272px by 340px, giving a total of 290 ppi, whereas the 42mm Apple Watch packs in 312px by 390px, giving a total of 302ppi.

The Moto 360 2 (which will be the Android Gear we are comparing to the Apple Watch) has a 369px by 330px display, with an end result of 233ppi. Onto layout. The Apple Watch has fresh new innovative layout, which is very easy to manoeuvre around in. The Moto 360 2 has an equally stylish layout, and is therefore, in most people's opinion matched with the Apple Watch layout. Now the pricing. Let's get straight to the point. The Apple Watch starts at an eye watering £299 and goes all the way up to £12,000. Android Wear starts at a more affordable £30 and goes up to around £100.

Overall, both watches seem to be fairly equivalent, but both have their own standout features, such as the Moto 360 2's round face, or the Apple Watch's 3rd party App selection. Which do you prefer? Drop your comments below and find us on social media! EndFragment
