Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact are finally coming to the US

Sony has never really been the first company that pops into your mind when you think of smartphones. The reason for that is because of poor marketing and limited availability in North America, which doesn't really help their case as they have to wait a longer time than many other countries to get their flagships.

Sony's flagship smartphones the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact have already been available in Asia and Europe for a month, and now Sony has confirmed a launch for the US. The launch is less than a month away, being released on February 7 and the regular Z5 is going to be priced at $599.99 while the Z5 Compact is going to be $499.99. Sony hasn't yet mentioned bringing the Z5 Premium to North America.

The Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact have a Snapdragon 810 with 3GB of RAM, 23MP rear-facing camera, 5.1MP front-facing camera, 32GB of internal storage, microSD and are also waterproof. The only difference between the two models is the screen size and battery. The Z5 has a 5.2-inch 1080p display with a 2900 mAh battery while the Z5 Compact has a 4.6-inch 720p display with a 2700 mAh battery.

You can see the specs for these phones aren't that bad, but you have to remember the competition Sony has in the US. Many competitors have better specs and a lower price point than the Z5, however, if you want a smartphone with a screen size less than 5-inches, the Z5 Compact is the most powerful one you can get.

When they do officially become available to the US, would you consider picking one up?
