Blackberry to focus on Android devices this year

Blackberry's most recent Android-enabled smartphone called the PRIV has been a hit for the Canadian company thus far, and it looks as though they are keeping with the same idea throughout the year, as they are planning on releasing one or more phones this year with Android built-in.

Blackberry CEO John Chen has revealed his plans for the company when it comes to Android-enabled smartphones during an event at CES 2016 a couple of weeks ago. He said that they plan on releasing, at least, one more smartphone with the Android OS built-in. However, a second model could follow suit, depending on how well the new model sells. We have seen leaked rumors of what the device could look like, code-named "Vienna." Other details about their plans with Android have not been specified.

However, Blackberry isn't giving up on their own custom OS, BB10. Also according to Chen, they are hoping that the PRIV and other devices will bring Blackberry into the spotlight again to enable the option of making another BB10 enabled smartphone. He was not specific on his details for their software, but he did say that he is "confident in [the company's] profitability this year." This is proved true as they are beginning to sell their PRIV at Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile stores sometime later this year.
