Uber is now available on the Samsung Gear S2

By many, Uber is considered the most popular ride-sharing service that is available, both in America and in other parts of the World. It's so popular in fact, that a recent report stated that more people now use the Uber than traditional taxis. This is actually causing a lot of friction between Taxi unions and the company - most recently in London, where the drivers union for traditional Black Cabs wanted to impose a minimum 5 minute wait between ordering an Uber and actually being picked up, in the hope of forcing people into using more traditional taxi's.

Moving on from all the conflict though, there's no doubt that Uber is growing, and fast. The service has been integrated into a number of apps already, such as FaceBook Messenger, which now allows you to call for an Uber directly from inside the app. Now though, the company has decided to take its app integration a bit further. The service is now available on the Samsung Gear S2, allowing you to request a ride straight from your wrist.

In addition to requesting an Uber though, you can also add a pre-set destination and view information about the Uber driver, including how long until he arrives. You can't, unfortunately, input an address into the app, which is understandable, considering the very small screen size. But still, the app is a pretty neat feature to have on your wrist.

The addition of the app to the Gear S2 is a clear indication of Samsung's efforts to bring more and more apps to the wearable, which is one the devices biggest drawbacks, considering the large amount of apps available on competing platforms such as Watch OS or Android Wear versus Tizen. Currently, Uber is the only ride-sharing service that is available on the Gear S2, but it shouldn't be too long until we see Lyft appear on the wearable, considering its increasing popularity and the fact that GM has invested $500 million into the service.
