HTC Desire T7 tablet specs hit GFXBench

A new listing on the GFXBench database has revealed that we may be seeing an upcoming HTC tablet announced sometime soon. The tablet, allegedly named the HTC Desire T7, was first talked about all the way back in June, when test units were shipped into India. Now though, a full spec sheet has leaked, giving us a hint at what’s to come from the struggling company.

The previous sighting of the tablet, when it was imported into India, did not reveal much about the device at all, other than it featured a 7-inch display and a quad-core processor. Thanks to today’s leak though, we know the device is more of a low-end tablet than a high-end one.

As well as the 7-inch (6.9, to be precise) 720x1280p screen, a quad-core 1.3GHZ Spreadtrum SC8830 processor is allegedly inside, along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Regarding cameras, it appears the same 5MP sensor is featured on both the front and rear, though the rear sensor is coupled with autofocus, an LED flash and face detection. Aside from these specs, there are also a numbet of connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS.

Moving on to software, the tablet is listed as running Android 5.0 Lollipop, which, if true, would be quite a disappointment considering the company is relatively quick when it comes to software updates, and, most recently, released the first device, outside of the Nexus line, to run Android Marshmallow. There is a possibility though, that HTC will update the tablet’s software before its reveal.

As this is a leak, take this spec list with a grain of salt, though do take into consideration that benchmark sightings do tend to hold some kind of accuracy. There’s no news on a release date yet, but it’s likely that we could see this device announced at HTC’s MWC 2016 press conference. Finally, regarding the price, the import listing stated a price of around $173, though this may vary depending on the market.
