LG will launch two flagships this year

LG is considered by many to be one of the few companies that consistently launches some of the best flagship devices in the industry, but, unfortunately for the company, this doesn’t guarantee big profits. Earlier today, the company posted its Q4 earnings report, revealing the full numbers and also sharing insight into what it has planned for the coming year, as well what problems it has to tackle.

During the fourth quarter of 2015, LG manages to ship 15.3 million smartphones, which was actually a 2% increase over the previous quarter, though, unfortunately, was also a 2% decrease over Q4 2014. Q4’s shipment numbers bring LG’s total for 2015 to a respectable 59.7 million devices shipped, 0.6 million more than the year before. However, despite the slight improvement, the company failed to produce a profit, unlike in 2014 where the company managed to produce a very minimal profit.

Not all was doom and gloom for the company though. LG revealed that US smartphones sales did increase 13% QoQ, most likely due to the moderate success of the recently launched LG V10. Aside from this good news, the company did acknowledge that these numbers can be further improved, and has officially confirmed plans to launch two flagships, the LG G5, which will launch at MWC, and what will most likely be the successor to the LG V10.

So far, rumours and leak claim that the G5 will come with a new premium design, along with a new dual camera setup and a Snapdragon 820 processor, though you can read more about the upcoming device in our rumour roundup. As far as the second flagship goes, we’re left completely in the dark about it, though we will be sure to keep you all updated as leaks and rumours surrounding the device start appearing.

LG definitely seems to have a clear plan for 2016, but it’s yet to be seen if it can compete with the likes of Samsung or Huawei. What do you think of the company’s plans for the year? Let us know in the comments below!
