Delorean to build new cars after 33 years

After an eventful 33 years, small scale car company Delorean - made famous after its appearance in the movie series 'Back to the Future - is to come back into production.

The company is planning on building around 300 new cars, which will all sell for approximately $100,000 (£70,000). This action has come about after a change in a US law which governs the safety requirements for smaller scale auto manufacturers changed, therefore allowing Delorean to build replicas of their gull wing sports car, without having to comply with modern safety regulations (so long as production is below 300 vehicles a year). Stephen Wayne told KRPC news site, "There's no reason to change the appearance of the car. As we get into the programme, we'll decide what areas do need to be freshened up." Mr. Wayne hopes to first build the cars at a rate of one per month, and then progressing to one per week. These will be the 1st Delorean veichles to be built in America, with the first to touch down in 2017.
