Google has started working on Project Skybender

We all know that mobile internet can be slow sometimes - for example when you are in a remote area and have very limited signal, or if you live in a country that is yet to deploy the latest mobile network technologies - and for you and many others, this can be increasingly frustrating, but maybe not for much longer. Google has thought of a solution and are currently in the testing phase.

The solution, dubbed "Project Skybender," consists in flying solar-powered drones over large areas with bad signal in the hope of delivering super fast internet to people that wouldn't usually have access to it. The drones will beam 5G internet, which is capable of speeds up to 40 times faster than the current 4G LTE technology.

To test the service, Google has rented a 15000 square foot hangar off of Richard Branson, which is used by companies such as Space X or Virgin Galacitc.

It remains to be seen what Google's final plans will be for the service, or when it will launch, but it seems as though the company is commited to delivering internet to the whole world, be it with its Google Fiber service, or with this new drone service.
