Huawei launches the Mate 8 flagship smartphone
We recently covered Huawei's new tablet that they announced at CES 2016, and alongside the new tablet, they launched the Mate 8 flagship smartphone, which packs som pretty impressive specs.
To start the specifications off, the Mate 8 has a 6-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Powering the Mate 8 is Huawei's own in-house Kirin 950 octa-core processor that boosts CPU power 100% and GPU performance 125% percent than previous processor models. The rear facing camera has a 16-megapixel Sony IMX298 sensor and an 8-megapixel front facing camera that has a "beauty algorithm" for taking that perfect selfie. The camera also shoots 1080p HD videos.
The Mate 8 has a 4,000mAh battery with a lifetime between charges of two days, which is impressive. It also has up to 70% more power efficiency. And it charges very quickly, 30 minutes will give you all day use, according to Huawei. Huawei has also included a fingerprint sensor in the Mate 8, and it improves identification capabilities by 10 percent and the recognition speed is 100 times faster.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the Mate 8, but it will have their own EMUI skin on top. As far as pricing goes, the Mate 8 will cost 599 Euros ($643) for 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. While 699 Euros ($750) will get you 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Color options include silver, space gray, champagne gold, moonlight and mocha brown. It initially will be launching in 30 countries throughout western Europe, UAE, Mexico and Austrailia.
