JBL announces a pair of wireless headphones with active noise cancellation

JBL at CES 2016 has teamed up with their parent company Harman Kardon to release the Everest Elite 100, which offers active noise cancellation that can be customizable.

However, active noise cancellation can be a huge battery drain, so JBL made the design of the headphones into a horseshoe-shaped neck rest or neckbuds. And how the active noise cancellation works is by using NXTGen, which lets the user dial certain noises up or down in the audio mix, which can be controlled by downloading JBL's accompanying app. The app lets users tune out the annoying frequencies and keep the non-annoying ones still active. This type of technology is called, "NXTGEn Active Noice Cancellation" which is what JBL calls the technology. In fact, JBL has included this technology on some of their more expensive over-the-ear headphones.

JBL's Everest Elite headphones are the first to include the active noise cancellation in this category. There is no word on how long the battery will last, but they will be available sometime in early 2016 for $199. Stay tuned to TechDependent for more CES 2016 coverage.
