Under Armour and HTC announce new fitness-centered devices

HTC recently broke the news that they are no longer making the Grip, which was an activity tracker that was made in partnership with Under Armour. Now, they're back at CES 2016 launching a slew of new fitness products. The products are manufactured and branded by Under Armour, but have prominent "designed by HTC" and HTC logos on each of the new products. Under Armour also partnered with JBL for their new line of audio products.

First announced is the UA band, which is a wearable fitness tracker. It can track your steps, sleep cycle and basic workouts such as walks, runs, bike rides and gym sessions. It has a sleek design that is also water resistant, light and easy to wear for everyday fitness tracking. The band will connect to your phone via Bluetooth, where it will display all of its information on the UA record app, where you can set goals, follow trends and talk about your fitness progress with your friends.

They also announced the UA scale, which is a WiFi enables smart scale that has a wonderful design that is made out of plastic and glass. The scale can track your weight and body fat in just mere seconds, and it can also have several distinct user profiles. The scale will sync to the user's phone via your home network.

Finally, there us the UA Heart Rate monitor, which is a Bluetooth enabled chest strap that monitors your heart rate activity during workouts. The strap will link your heart statistics with other data from the UA band and/or any other UA devices. According to Armor Gear, it offers more accurate readings than any other device you can have on you, such as your phone or your fitness tracker.

The three UA products are sold separately, but you can get them all bundled together with the HealthBox kit. The HealthBox kit will be available for $400 while the UA band will be for $180, Scale for $180 and the heart monitor for $80 if you would like to buy them separately.

On top of the new UA fitness devices, Under Armor partnered with JBL to release a pair of fitness-focused Bluetooth headphones, called the UA Headphones wireless. They are built for wearing during runs and workouts with extra durability while developing great sound quality. They will be available for $250, and more interestingly, it can read your heart rate though the earbuds.

Finally, Under Armor is releasing a smart version of their popular running shoes, called the SpeefRorm Gemini 2. The shoes can track almost every aspect of your run, including time, date, duration, distance and even splits. These will do all that without having the phone actively connected, as it will send all of the information to the UA Record app after you've completed your run. It is important to add that these are more accurate than the GPS that is found on your phone.

If you are interested in any of Under Armours new gear, it is available for pre-order on UA.com and HTC.com starting today. However, the Speedform Gemini 2 shoes are going to be available in February and the JBL headphones will be available sometime in March. Stay tuned to TechDependent for all of our CES 2016 coverage.
