Nikon at CES 2016 announced the D500 DSLR, which has a 20.9-megapixel camera that has "advanced smart device capability," which means that the camera will work with your smartphones and other smart-enabled devices. The camera has the APS-C sensor and the Expeed 5 processor alongside the 153-point AF system. It also has a 10fps shooting speed, with up to 200 shots in RAW mode. There is also an ISO range of 100-51,2000 that can be expanded to 50-1,640,000. Finally, there is also a tiltable touchscreen.

As far as video capabilities go, the camera can shoot 4K videos at 30fps, which is faster at 1080p. The D500 can capture uncompressed 4K to both the HDMI and the XQD memory card simultaneously. It is important to mention that there is also SD card support. There is also ISO smoothing, which provides fluid exposure transitions while recording, as well as a 3-axis electronic shake reduction and active D-Lighting which presents blown-out highlights.

The D500 is the companies first to support their SnapBridge platform. Nikon promised that sharing pictures will be one-step process between the camera and the phone. The camera uses Bluetooth Low Energy to do just that. There is also NFC support as well as built-in WiFi with an optional wireless transmitter.

The camera's design has an magnesium weather-sealed body that is similar to their full frame D810, even though the camera does not have a pop-up flash. The new D500 is the companies most expensive DX model, as it will cost $2000 for the body and $3,069 with the bundled kit lens which is a 16-80mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. The camera will be available in the US in March of 2016. Stay tuned to TechDependent for more CES 2016 coverage. To see all of our coverage, use the CES 2016 tags and/or categories
