4K has seen quite the trend at CES this year, as more and more TV's are supporting the standard as well as getting 4K HDR support. Blu-Ray players are also getting updated to support the new format, and Pansonic is refreshing their line of Blu-Ray players to 4K, as well. The player was announced at CES 2016, and it will be available for purchase in the US later this year. Panasonic actually released the first 4K Blu-Ray player in the world, but it was only sold in Japan. If you were to get it today, it would cost roughly $3,300USD after imports.
Panasonic released their player just in time, as movie studios are releasing movies that are in the 4K Ultra-HD format as well as HDR technology for brighter, bolder images. Panasonic's competitors have had a heck of a show as well, as they have been releasing more and more 4K TV's as well as 4K Blu-Ray players. Yet, Panasonic hasn't released any more information about the player's pricing or availability, other than the fact that they plan on releasing it later this year.
