Motorola will now be called Moto, thanks to Lenovo

Lenovo just recently finished their acquisition of Motorola, who used to be owned by Google. To sum things up, Motorola has had a rough couple of years. Well, the Motorola brand we know and love won't be called Motorola anymore, as Chief Operating Officer Rock Osterloh confirmed in an interview with CNET at CES 2016 that the brand will be renamed Moto for their high-end flagship phones, while the Vibe name will be used for budget devices. However, the Moto X will feature the Lenovo logo, but still retain the classic "M" batwing logo in the classic dimple that is found on the back.

According to CNET's Report, "Osterloh and his business, which will keep the Motorola name from an organizational standpoint, will soon take over all of the mobile operations at Lenovo. This means bringing Vibe phones into markets where Moto exists, and vice versa.

In markets where the Lenovo name is strong, the company intends to introduce the Moto line as an upscale product. Motorola will use the relationships and sales channels in its territories to push Vibe phones that cost less than $100. Osterloh said he expects to bring the Vibe line to the US, although it's unlikely it would occur this year."
