Razer announces the Stargazer webcam
Webcam's are becoming a thing of the past lately, as they aren't used as often thanks to built-in webcams in out smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. Well, Razer at CES 2016 announced a new webcam that is specifically built with gamers in mind called the Stargazer.
The webcam uses Intel's RealSense SR300 imaging sensors that offers 720p resolution videos at 60fps, which matches frame rates that are seen on modern video games. 1080p resolution at 30fps is still supported, as well. The camera also has automatic noise cancelation with a dual array microphone.
But wait, there more. The camera has a dynamic background remover feature which can automatically cut out the background of the video for easy green screen effects, without the need for an actual green screen. This is supported with OBS, XSplit, and Razer Cortex: Gamecaster streaming services. Additionally, the camera can track up to 78 points of your face and 22 points on each hand, and potentially allowing the user to unlock their computer by waving at it or looking at it, using Windows Hello. Finally, the camera can 3D scan anything and can export that scan to your 3D printer.
The stargazer webcam will be available for $200 when it ships to stores sometime in Q2 of 2016. Stay tuned to TechDependent for more CES 2016 coverage. To see all of our coverage, use the CES 2016 category and/or tags.
