Speck announces the Pocket VR case

While Google's Cardboard VR system is a great, cheap option to experience VR, it isn't essentially that portable, as the cardboard is fragile and can potentially break easily. Well, Speck is counterattacking this issue as they have released the Pocket VR case, which allows users to experience VR in a more sturdy, collapsible case.

The Pocket VR at its simplest form is three pieces of plastic and an elastic band that either holds your phone in the case or to collapse it down into something small and pocketable. To use the VR case, simply unfold the plastic sides and put your phone in between the plastic sides. Upon opening the case, it'll expose the lenses and the elastic band that will keep your phone it's place.

However, the case is missing the button mechanism that is found on several other VR cases that allows you to interact with the screen. Meaning, the case is strictly a viewer of VR content, instead of something that you can interact around with games. The case doesn't seem to work well in outdoor situations, as well.

The Pocket VR case will launch with Speck's CandyShell cases starting in Spring 2016. The first case will be available for the Samsung Galaxy S6 for $69.95, which is $30 more than the CandyShell case alone, which is something to think about.
