This router can download a 4K movie in four minutes

Believe it or not, there is other news at CES this year than just TV's. And here is an interesting piece of information you probably haven't heard about, TP-Link's new router can download 4K movies in under four minutes.

The router uses both Intel's new 802.11ad technology, which uses the unused 60GHZ network band to reach amazingly fast data speeds, as well as 802.11ac WiFi, which combines the 60GHz, 2.4GHz and 5GHZ network bands for a total throughput speed of up to 7 gigabits per second. What makes this router effective is the fact that the 60GHz band cannot transfer WiFi data through walls, so the 2.4GHZ and 5GHz bands will kick in when that happens. The router can even transfer a thousand photos to a storage device in just about 5 seconds. There are eight antennas all around the router, which is called the Talon. On the back, there are four gigabit Ethernet ports as well as two USB 3.0 ports. The price is not yet known for the Talon, but it will be available early this year.
