There have been a lot of new Chromebooks and other Chrome OS enabled products launched recently, but the Chromebase hasn't seen a refresh for a while, until now as Acer just launched the Chromebase 24 at CES 2016. And there is a major difference between the older models made by LG and Acer. That difference is the fact that those models used cheaper processors such as Intel Celeron and Tegra K1 processors. The Chromebase 24 uses Intel Core processors, which can be found on a lot of Windows 10 machines today.

The Chromebase 24 also has a bigger screen, a 23.8-inch 1080p IPS display with optional touchscreen support. It can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM, and has 802.11ac Wifi and gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Interestingly, Acer is marketing this All-in-one as a video conferencing machine with it's four digital microphones and an adjustable HD webcam. Pricing and availability information has not been revealed, but it will vary depending on region. There is one thing for sure though, given the impressive specs, it will be the most expensive Chromebase to date. Stay tuned to TechDependent for more CES 2016 coverage.
