Google to release a brand new VR headset this year

Google’s cardboard virtual reality headsets have been very successful, and that has inspired the company to produce an all-new VR headset. A report from the Financial Times claims that the company is planning on releasing an all new VR headset later in the year, to better allow the giant to compete with the likes of Samsung and HTC.

The new headset will be based on the Cardboard headset but this time with upgraded features and a more premium package. All you have to do is insert a smartphone that can operate VR games and apps. There’s also the possibility of having a new software system in the headset, and Google could even create a virtual reality version of the Android operating system.

With additional internal features, including software, the future of Google’s virtual reality could be able to combat current issues such as lag, low screen resolutions and more.

With the I/O event coming up soon, Google will most likelyn show off its new virtual reality device(s) at the conference. If the rumours are true, we could be able to get our hands on the new headset later on this year.
