When most of us get a new device, we usually either recycle the box or keep it away for storage, never to be seen again. Alcatel is hoping to change that with their upcoming phone, as the phone's box will turn into a Virtual Reality (VR) viewer. According to a report via VentureBeat, they claim that their upcoming OneTouch Idol 4S smartphone will ship in a plastic box that will turn into a Google Cardboard-compatible VR viewer. The box would include the two eyepieces, a slot to hold your phone, and a button to tap the screen. It is unknown how many people will use the feature, but it is a clever way to get people introduced into the world of watching and using VR content.

Also according to the report, the Idol 4S will have a Snapdragon 652 processor and a 5.5-inch screen, and could cost around $400, making it in the mid-range category. The phone is set to launch sometime in May.
