BandPage is acquired by YouTube to increase Red subscribers

BandPage, a website that consists of over 500,000 musicians who share their content, has been purchased by YouTube for $8 million. It’s basically a platform that musicians and bands utilise to showcase their content, sell concert tickets, merchandise, and even make a bit of a name for themselves – with the website taking a 15% share out of each and every transaction.

Internet giant, YouTube, has acquired the website in order to build up its portfolio and increase possibilities and opportunities for more business success. With BandPage now joining YouTube, there will be a greater chance of musicians, bands, and new viewers to subscribe to the fresh YouTube Red service.

Artists would be able to sell themselves to a much larger audience, increasing their income. YouTube Red subscribers will gain early and exclusive access to these artists and enjoy their content. And YouTube will have a larger chance of subscribers paying $10 per month for the ad-free subscription, empowering the company to expand their business. All in all, this is a smart method for YouTube to dig into the future of Internet business.
