McDonald's incorporates VR into Happy Meals for kids

Companies are trying different ways to try to incorporate Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality into our everyday lives, and McDonald's of Sweden might have found the winning combination, as they are including "Happy Goggles" in their Happy Meal boxes, which is included in the price of the Happy Meal. The Happy Goggles look a lot like Google's Cardboard VR headset, and it is executed the same as well.

The program runs through March 5th to the 12, at 14 select McDonalds locations throughout Sweden. The reason why McDonalds is running this program, it is supposedly tied to a week-long school holiday called SportLov, which aims to get kids and their families into skiing trips. To aid in that, the headsets come with a specifically created VR game called Slope Stars.

There are only 3,500 Happy Goggles to be sold throughout Sweden, so they are going to be sold lightning fast. The Happy Goggles is likely to be a trial run of the program. If it is well received, it could spread beyond Sweden, into other markets.

This isn't the first time we've seen this concept, however. We've seen Alcatel do this with their Idol 4S box, which turns into a VR-ready headset. We will for sure see more and more companies come out with this concept later throughout the year, as they are trying to get more people to experience VR. What do you think about the Happy Goggles?
