Popslate is back with a new iPhone case
Popslate first announced their first e-ink case for the iPhone last year, which added an external e-ink display on the back of the iPhone. And now they're back with the Popslate 2, which has a, larger e-ink display and a built-in battery to charge the phone, and more features.
When the Popslate first came out, it could only be charged through MicroUSB, instead of Apple's Lightning cable, and it even though it was the size of a Mophie external battery case, it could not charge the phone. Well, all those problems and more have been fixed in the second generation model, as it has a higher resolution e-ink display capped at 200dpi instead of 115dpi from last year's model. The Popslate 2 now connects to the iPhone via lightning instead of Bluetooth, thus allowing the case to charge your iPhone as well as reducing latency issues.
It is important to mention that the Popslate will provide nine additional hours of talk time and five additional hours of web browsing, which is less than Apple's smart case offering. However, Apple's case does not come with an e-ink display case on the back. Speaking of the display, there are capacitive buttons on the bottom of the screen that can be used for better multitasking. Notifications can also be received on the back of the case, which can preserve the iPhone's battery as you would be checking the back of the device instead of turning on the iPhone's screen. Additionally, the Popslate's screen is 4.7-inches big, up from 4-inches on the last model.
