9.7-inch iPad Pro announced: weighs less than a pound and $599.
Apple has just announced a 9.7-inch iPad Pro, a smaller version of last year's iPad Pro. The new iPad Pro has a display size of 9.7-inches and it weighs less a pound. It's the same size as the iPad Air 2, which is the most popular iPad available from Apple.
Apple claims that the display of the new iPad is 25 percent brighter and 40 percent less reflective than the iPad Air 2's screen. They also say this is the brightest 9.7-inch tablet on the market. It also features a new technology called "True Tone Display" which adjusts the display to match the color temperature of ambient light. The iPad Pro also uses iOS 9.3's new feature to reduce blue-light for late night use.
The iPad Pro is also very similar internally to the larger iPad Pro. It packs the A9X processor and a four-speaker system, which is twice as loud as the iPad Air 2's speakers. It works with the Apple Pencil which was released last year, but Apple has also released some new accessories such as the Smart Keyboard which is a smaller size for the new iPad Pro and a new SD card reader and USB camera adapter which is Lightning-powered.
The camera has improved with a 12-megapixel rear camera, dual-tone flash, and Live Photos. Apple offers the screen flash for the front-facing camera.
The 9.7-inch iPad Pro will start at $599 for the 32GB model, $749 for the 128GB model and $899 for the new 256GB version. These prices are for the WiFi-only models, but LTE will cost $130 more for each model. Just like the iPhone SE, preorders will start on March 24 and will be available on March 31.
