Nixon's new Android Wear watch has one unique trait

We've seen some fitness-enabled devices aimed at one specific demographic of users before. For example, Misfit with their Shine wearable aimed at swimmers. However, we haven't really seen the same treatment for Android Wear smartwatches, until now as Nixon just recently released the Mission, which has a 10-ATM water resistance rating. The water resistance rating puts it as the highest of any smartwatch as it can withstand depths up to 100 meters. Additionally, the water resistance makes the watch perfect for surfers and swimmers to get up-to-date information while they're out and about.

Internally, the Mission, which is made by Nixon has a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, with a Gorilla Glass covered round AMOLED display. The outer bezel on the watch is stainless steel that is surrounded by a polycarbonate and stainless steel shell with a silicone band that helps to aim for comfort and durability. Nixon is also taking the Motorola Moto Maker approach and is letting the user customise their watch as they see fit, allowing them to change the bezel and band colors to a unique color scheme. The user can also change the watch's display to look like the companies other watches, such as the 51-30, The Sentry, The Player, The Ranger, and The Unit.

Nixon CEO Nick Stowe said that "We've always pushed things that have never been done before and we're doing it again with The Mission" He also went on to say that "We wanted to make our entrance into the smart category in a disciplined and purposeful way by bringing functions that are useful and true to our DNA and action sports heritage." Additionally, he said that Nixon has a "family of smart products to come," So it is safe to say that we'll be hearing more about Nixon and their smartwatches within the next couple of months.
