Google could soon launch a Periscope competitor

The popularity of live-streaming social media services like Periscope is on the rise, and it seems that Google has taken the hint, as they could soon be launching a live-streaming service that would make it easier to stream on YouTube much easier.

According to a report via VentureBeat, Google would call the app YouTube connect, and it would offer similar features from Periscope and Facebook Live. The service would let the user stream from their mobile device, and streams would be viewable from inside the app itself and on YouTube, with previous broadcasts saved for playback later. A YouTube spokesperson said that "We don't comment on rumor on speculation" when contacted by The Verge.

The rumored app doesn't come as a surprise, as Google has tried to capitalize on live streaming before, such as their Creator Studio as well as launching a Twitch competitor with YouTube Gaming. Stay Tuned to TechDependent as we will update you if this becomes true or not.
