HTC could launch a new Desire phone alongside the HTC 10
HTC has already confirmed that they will be unveiling their next flagship – the HTC 10 – at an event next week. However, according to the latest rumour, the HTC 10 won’t be the only device announced at the event.
Lately many rumours have been pointing towards the company announcing a HTC 10 variant with the Snapdragon 652 processor inside, as opposed to the Snapdragon 820 which will be used in the main version. This rumour, although odd, could be true, as LG has launched a similar variant of its latest flagship in Latin America.
According to ROM developer LlabTooFer though, HTC will be launching a different second device on April 12, specifically a mid-range smartphone belonging to the Desire family and it goes by the codename HTC A56. Not much is known about the device though, other than it will come in both single and dual SIM variants.
HTC’s Desire range covers most spectrums of the smartphone market, from entry-level to upper mid-range, but recently the latter part of the range hasn’t received any new releases, meaning the device that could be announced may be an upper-midrange one. There is an interesting possibility though. That being that that the rumoured Snapdragon 652 variant of the HTC 10 is in fact the HTC A56.
This possibility, if true, would make more sense from a marketing and sales point than simply releasing a cheaper variant of what is claimed to be the company’s flagship device. All will be revealed next week on April 12 though, so be sure to stay tuned to the site for any developments regarding this story and all other news.
