iPhone 7 A10 chip might work well for battery life for thin iPhones
When it comes to battery life and thinness, Apple has no problem with sacrificing battery life for the thinness of the iPhone as we've seen from previous models, however, Apple might change that this year with the iPhone 7. ETNews reports that thanks to new fan-out chip technology, the device could have a bigger battery with a slimmer design.
Apple's new A10 chip could have silicon chips and semiconductor compounds together, which allows a smaller design. This should result in a more powerful processor which takes up less space, which will then allow more room for the iPhone's battery.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has previously said that it's hard to make fan-out technology. They also said they are going to supply chips for one specific company, but they didn't say which one.
Apple and TMSC have already worked together on phones. According to multiple reports, the Cupertino company will rely on the chip-maker from Taiwan for the A10 processor.
