Windows 10 build 14316 - insider preview is ready and it comes with some surprises
Microsoft has had great success with the Windows 10 operating system and the insider preview program seems to be growing well. Just a week after their Build 2016, a new Insider preview build is out with even more awesome features. According to the Windows blog, there are a couple of exciting features coming with this new build:
Ubuntu Bash in Windows finally arrives. As announced at Build 2016, Windows 10 will be able to run native Bash and will support Linux command-line tools in the near future. The new developer build adds this feature even though it’s still in it’s beta stages.
Cortana for all devices is also here and it looks good. Synchronisation across devices is being released in this build for testing. And if you don’t have a Windows phone you don’t have to worry, the feature works with Cortana on Android phones too. Cortana will now send low battery notifications to your PC when your phone battery gets low. There’s also the new find my phone feature and sharing across multiple devices.
Edge browser now supports extensions even though this is a new feature being tested. Microsoft has also added a lot of new emoji aligning with the Microsoft design language. Personalization in Windows is better now with dark and light modes across many programs and apps.
Perhaps the most exciting feature for Windows nerds is the new Connect feature enabling Miracast-enabled devices to project onto Windows PCs wirelessly without a Miracast adapter. It has been reported by an Android user that this feature works with his Android device, allowing him to cast his phone screen to a Windows PC running the build.
