SpaceX rocket successfully lands on the Atlantic ocean

Barely a week after the Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk went on stage to announce the Model 3, there are now over 350,000 pre-orders making it a huge success for the company. Tesla Motors’ sister company SpaceX which specializes in designing, manufacturing and launching advanced rockets and spacecrafts has made another big breakthrough.

Yesterday the CRS-8 rocket successfully launched and landed on a drone ship on the ocean after four previous, unsuccessful attempts. This is the second successful landing of a rocket for the company in five months, the first one being a ground landing in December 2015. The landing has indeed made waves; it is a major breakthrough for the company and Space research as a whole.

Many people still wonder why there are so many tests and launches. SpaceX intends to successfully test these rockets here on Earth before launching them into space. This also cuts down on costs as there can be re-use of the rockets used in test launches on Earth.
